The Ten best performing Tourism Websites in West Cork
Séamus Ó Drisceoil of Cailin Óir Ferry Service carried out a web survey of West Cork Tourism related websites on Tuesday and Wednesday 25 And 26th November 2014. The purpose was to obtain some baseline data on general interest websites promoting tourism in the area. While the work was carried out to support the efforts of the newly formed West Cork Tourism Group, the author accepts complete responsibility.
The methodology was to choose 10 representative search terms and to rank the sites appearing 1-10 on Google Ireland, UK and Germany respectively. Scores were awarded accordingly.
Based on the results gained the 10 best performing tourism websites regarding West Cork were the following:-

The author was pleasantly surprised at some results, especially the very strong performance of www.Baltimore.ie which achieved multiple listings under different search terms. The results for the West Cork Hotel are also very impressive as is Casey’s Cabin of Baltimore. The first seven sites listed were consistently in the first 10 ranked on Google Ireland, UK and Germany. The author was impressed at the all the websites listed, for various different reasons and congratulates those concerned.
The overall Ranking are presented below.
Paid listings are shown separately and a number of sites which appeared only on Google Germany are also noted. It should be noted that these are sites which appear when search terms including the words ‘west cork’ are used. The author is aware of various excellent special interest sites in the area which did not come to the fore in this survey because they are more specifically targeted towards their intended markets. The author did not include ‘west cork islands’ as a search term and conducted a separate survey in this area.
